Optimized bio-filter medium with perfect volume utilization, long service life and highest degradation performance. SSUBSTRATpro by EHEIM consists of spherically sintered quartz. The spherical shape allows a high bulk density. Thus, the volume in the filter (filter baskets or modules) can be fully utilized.  In addition, the optimized surface of the beads ensures intensive settlement of the important purification bacteria.  It forms a dense bacterial lawn. The high number of bacteria also reduces nitrite exposure peaks and prolongs the service life of the filter material. SUBSTRATpro by EHEIM is suitable for fresh and sea water, is washable and can be used several times.

advices:

• Never clean or replace the entire biological filter material in one operation (never too thoroughly). 
• The bacterial cultures must not be completely destroyed, otherwise the resettlement will be delayed. 
• For partial cleaning, the filter baskets in external filters and the filter modules in the internal filters aquaball and biopower are ideal.
